Lancaster or Lehigh Valley areas
Which area would you predict as a better return for your money? Do you think that the Lehigh area has already boomed and Lancaster is next? Which one would you pick to raise a family? Where do you think you would make a better income?

No one want to touch this subject? OK, which area would pick to live in because it has more to offer for a family? A simple question vs. the above post.

We lived in the Lehigh Valley for about 25 years. My wife's family is from the Lancaster area (Elizabethtown). In my opinion, Lancaster is the better place to raise a family.

My husband and I went to college outside of Lancaster and are currently raising our family in the Lehigh Valley. We're very happy here, but would be just as happy in Lancaster (although it's farther from family-the main drawback for us). Sorry that doesn't help much .
Something that could help us make recommendations: What kind of work do you and your wife do?

My husband does air conditioning and heating-service and installation. He would prefer to work for a company as a supervisor or head leader. We are not crazy about working for ourselves, done it before and too many headaches. So an area with newer homes and in an area were people don't mind the extra expense of running a/c would be a plus.

There are lots of new townhomes/homes being built in the LV area. Probably the biggest HVAC company is Hannaberry HVAC (I believe they have an Allentown address).

Definitely Lancaster as the Lehigh Valley will probably be overtaken by New Yorkers sooner or later...

How many people have actually lived in both places? Both areas are beautiful and have a bit of a sprawl problem. Spend a few days in both places and see what feels right for you. We moved to the Lehigh Valley because my husband got a job up that way, but I was happy to move. If he had gotten a job in Lancaster county, I would have been happy going that way also.
