^ About that video: Erie was founded in 1896??? News to me. Inexcusable that a glaring error like that could be allowed to slip by. Thing is, it's not like just some numbers got reversed. It was off by 101 years!! That's really bad.
Also, is that music from 1991? And, why feature a failed US cabinet member, a relatively unknown pop singer, and an actress with one known role from the 1970s? Who cares about them or where they're from? Would knowing that Erie is the hometown of Alice from the Brady Bunch really make you want to visit Erie?
Terribly disappointing and embarrassing representation of Erie. Typical, behind-the-times mentality.

Meh. I don't want to start a flame war, but at least to my particular "flavor" Erie isn't particularly anything to write home about aesthetically. I'm not saying Scranton is some sort of Valhalla either (it's rusty, as we all know), but I don't get what all of the "fuss" on this forum is about with Erie. That skyline is not very impressive.

Erie has a LOT of work to do to get up to par with other mid-sized cities in the stae. The downtown is filled with parking lots, ultra-wide one-way avenues (there's a five lane one really close to downtown....five freaking lanes! and I was the only person driving on it once lol), abandoned buildings and overgrown weed-filled industrial lots. Where the city is in tact it is nice and of course the scenery is gorgeous. But a lot of the city is quite ugly and if we are talking skylines then Erie is probably not even top 5 in the whole state...the office buildings near the waterfront more resemble a suburban office park then anything else.

Erie has a hight restriction so thats why no buildings stand out. Its is a city that need some TLC. Erie's population has been going down for the past 30 or so years, but Millcreek is growin at a nice speed. The downtown area is just so spread out compared to most other citys(do to it being around since the late 1700s) With all that said, we dont get the recognition a city of 300'000 (Metropolitan Area) should.

What's the history behind that big boat I keep seeing, the one that looks like a pirate ship? That's pretty cool. Kinda looks like the pirate ship at the end of "The Goonies". What was it originally used for? Do they still sail it?
