judd2401 is on a distinguished road
Default You were driving into a hole!

Ohio girl, your spouse was right, Johnstown is located in a bowl surrounded by mountains, that's why the Great Johnstown flood was so devastating because the water had no where to go once it careened down the mountain into town after the dam gave way, it splashed back downtown once it hit the mountains on the other side. Thousands of people were killed, you may want to visit the under used National Park site there, they have a great movie theater there, they show a documentary that details the events leading up to, during and after the great flood. It's a very interesting, yet tragic story. It also details some of the very interesting history of Johnstown, it was a center for commerce and had upscale shops downtown imported from Phila and NYC.
