Coudersport
Biked there last month. Just wondering how do they pronounce the name? It looked in better shape than some other towns on Rt. 6. Went as far west as Port Allegheny. It looked pretty run down. But I must say the stretch between Coudersport and Wellsboro is heavenly. I had to stop for this shot.

Coudesport question
Went to Coudesport recently, there is a great big new building that sticks out like a sore thumb in the center of town, looks vacant. What's the story with it?

You mean this? It is gorgeous, and huge. Certainly not something you'd expect in a little town in that part of the state.

i believe that was the adelphia cable building. Not sure the whole story, but they are no longer there, i think they were bought out by comcast, so the building is now vacant

The Adelphia corporate officers (John Rigas, majority owner/founder) were found to be cooking the books and embezzling to the tune of $2 billion+. Company went bellyup, Rigas and at least one of his sons are now doing serious time in federal prison. Company was liquidated, Comcast did get a piece, as did a couple others as the company was also in the local phone business along with CATV.

It has already been auctioned off. Not sure who bought, or for what reason. Likely some telemarketing junk that they were able to tell the locals would be good work (not that young people get jazzed about being able to stay in Coudersport to peddle junk over the phone).
