I've been going there for almost 4 years, and it's pretty alright.

We get terrible winters, and it gets insanely lonely if you don't have someone up here with you. There's not much to do, if you don't look for it.

If you're into partying, I'd say you'd love Edinboro.

I hate partying, but theres always something else to do up here. The bars are nice, as is the main street. Johns, the Campus Dog, Mcdonalds and Walmart will be your best friends if you decide to come here. Barely anything else is really important.

Cambridge Springs, LeBouf, Union City, Erie, and Meadville are all a short ride away (10-30 mins) if you're looking to escape for a few hours and relax somewhere else. If you're looking for shopping, theres a few good antique places on the main street, but that's pretty much it. Meadville and Erie are very close to you.

The dorms are pretty OK. I lived in Towers for the first two years, and I resided on the third floor of B, where all the art kids were for the most part. I liked it a lot- aside from the walk to class. Third year I lived in Rose, which is much closer to classes, but I think it's dirty and terrible now. Earp and Dearborn would be the way to go, if you decided to enroll.

We're currently undergoing huge construction and we're about to get VERY VERY nice dorms that you'll be here to see and hopefully stay in, called the Highlands. Wish they were up when I came here. I think if you enroll now, it'd be a wise investment- the University has made drastic improvements since we got a new president, last year.

It's in a great location, the University has fantastic art (and teaching) programs, the only downer is the winter

Dylan, Slippery Rock also has a good teaching program. You might want to look into there as well. I'm not sure how flat or hilly it is there, though.

Actually I guess many of the state universities (Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, etc.) have good teaching program. I remember Bloomsburg used to be the Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and then just Bloomsburg State College, and now Bloomsburg University. The times, they are a-changing.

The main campus? The main campus is flat, yes. But as soon as you go up 6N or down 6n you run into a lot of farmlands built on hills. Especially the backroads off of 6N or 19.

If you plan to walk/bike around, you can certainly find some beautiful areas and landscapes. Honestly, the best I've seen in western PA. You have to look for them though.

If you plan to drive around or something.. I can go on and on about all the nice country roads up here.

Edinboro is similar to Elk County. The campus itself is flat which is nice but once you get out on the roads there are quite large hills. Its a rural area and it really is beautiful. If you want the city this is not the place for you, but ifyou like a rural area you will love it here. The teaching program is very good.

Dylan,
The state colleges - PASSHE | PA State System of Higher Education were ALL founded as Teachers colleges. Business and education are usually the most popular majors. When my husband and son did the admitted students day at Millersville they started off the day in the gym. The speaker then broke the crowd up into majors. First he asked all the potential ed majors to leave and half of the group stood up.

I don't think you are going to find much difference in the curriculum at any of these colleges for ed majors. If you are set on going to one of these colleges, you need to figure out exactly what's important to you. Do you want to be in a rural area? If yes, then you probably only eliminate West Chester. Do you want to meet people from a different part of the state? Then don't go to any of the colleges within three hours of you. Over 90% of the students at state colleges are from PA and most tend to go to ones within 3 hours from their home. Looking for an honors college? IUP has the best. Robert E Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania
