I can understand why they haven't made one, but I think it would make it somewhat easier.

And my classical understanding of south central has always been the 8 as shown on that map. The other 6 aren't as integrated into the core 8 IMO.

And York/adams would definately exist with or without baltimore/maryland. They might be somewhat smaller (and have better drivers) but would still exist with a sizeable amount of population.

Let's do it, why not?

By the way, by your breakdown, Berks County is kind of a hole that is surrounded by four different regions. Three of those regions have a claim to it: the census department puts Berks County in the extended Philly area (affectively making it the sixth Philly-area county), however it is included in the Lehigh-Valley media market and has a lot in common with it (how many times have I heard "Allentown and Reading" mentioned in the same breath?). Also, Reading has a lot in common with Lancaster and Harrisburg culturally, perhaps even more than Allentown (expecially with the Amish in those counties). I'm honestly not sure which category I'd put it in.

Berks County has always been an enigma to me. I think in the long-term it will become annexed as more and more of an exurb of Philadelphia (perhaps with its own SEPTA link from Reading into the city through the NW suburbs). However right now it would best be served staying on the General PA forum.

"Let's do it?" Wish "I" could, but that decision is ultimately out of my hands. It's not my forum.

Here is a list of the threads pertinent to South Central PA in particular that I've compiled from just the first ten pages of the General PA forum. Once again may I ask why the Tri-Cities area of Washington (Richland/Kennewick/Pasco) can have their own sub-forum when they can barely keep it afloat while a very busy region of our Commonwealth is NOT eligible?

So what gives? Obviously there is enough forum traffic to warrant the justification of this sub-forum.

Since I know regional sub-forums have been frowned upon in the past why not just create a Harrisburg/Carlisle sub-forum for now and see how that takes off? I personally think there would be plenty of traffic to sustain a separate sub-forum for both Lancaster and York as well, but I'd rather fewer sub-forums with more content in each as opposed to more sub-forums with very little activity.

I nominate danwxman once again as moderator of the Harrisburg sub-forum (or preferably of the South Central PA sub-forum).

So thus far 22 people have voted and perhaps 3 have commented to express their opinions on the issue? I included "WHY?" at the end of the voting options for a reason, folks. I'm interested to hear justifications on BOTH SIDES of this issue! Why would this sub-forum be of benefit to you? Why would it be of detriment to you?

Yes, I support this idea. I think it would be as successful as some other forums on this site and certainly provide a useful place for those looking to move to the area, considering it is one of the top relocation areas of the Northeast. And thanks ScranBarre, I accept your nomination

You're quite welcome. You are to Harrisburg what I was to Scranton before I let all of the naysayers infect me to the point of becoming a fellow cynic. You've proven yourself to be very level-headed and helpful on this forum, and I can only hope that we soon do get either a Harrisburg city sub-forum or a South Central PA sub-forum and that the Administrator agrees with my opinion that you would be the best choice to tend to it.

Meh. Oh well. It was a nice thought while it lasted. I was just shot down in a thread on the "About the Forum" section by the Administrator. You would have done a great job though, in my opinion, Dan.
