^ he specifically said that he was sending his kids to cathdral prep "for the sports program". there is nothing wrong with being invloved in sports at all; in fact, it'a a very positive thing. shouldn't be the primary reason to go to high school somewhere though, especially if those are dad's views. plenty of high schools in the erie area have very good sports programs. sending your kid to prep because it offers a good education and boasts top college acceptance numbers is a great reason. it's all about priorities.
god, this scotpriester character will argue with anything. he sounds like a crybaby child in so many threads on this forum.

Well, I'll bet this father has the right to send his kid to whatever school for whatever reason. If his kids excel in sports and want to take it on as a career, Cathedral Prep is a good place go. And you, even being "Ghandi" really don't have the right to chastise a father for his reasons, because you wouldn't do the same.

Even though you are "Ghandi", you will find different opinions on internet discussion boards, if you can't take it then don't participate.

What about High Schools like Strong Vincent, Central Tech and East High? Are they good schools or is one better than others?

East High hasn't had that great of a reputation lately; recently, there was a shooting during one of their basketball games, and as a result, a few schools have cancelled sporting events at East High. Granted, Erie is not even 1/4 as bad as some bigger inner citys, but if there would be one school district in the city I and many others would not recommend, it would be East.

Wow ,I should check up on threads I post in sooner!
Geez.
Look here , Ghandi!
I said, for the sports program because at this time in their lives they would like to play pro sports, and Prep gives them that opportunity!
I graduated from Central (Central Tech now), and while I love my school it just can't be USED like Prep can.
The way I am raising my kids it does not matter where they go to school for an education, why? Because they are being raised to know their subjects in excellence, not the flimsy standards their teachers have...as it is with class sizes over 20 it's really up to the students to "teach themselves" Which in my opinion works better, makes them know their studies for themselves.Which is why ALL THREE of my sons have straight A's...who's the Dad lacking priorities?
Anyways, you hack it sounds like to me you might have some deficiencies in your own life, maybe you had a father who had NO priorities for you?
Now if that last statement offended you, maybe you should think of how you come across to others.
And if you ever feel them need to voice a concern about something someone is doing or has done, be a man (I assume your gender by your typing skills) and POLITELY ASK THE PERSON! Voice your concern civily and with the understanding that when you are talking to a stranger about themselves your dealing with their identity and their ideals, and if you take the time to protect that person from yourself by talking properly you'll get MUCH further with people.
That's enough from me....

My Praise and Worship group held a concert there one week after the shooting, it was packed out and we even got interviewed about how we felt about having a concert there so soon after the shooting and what that means to us.
The girl who got shot, is a member of a church that holds services in the auditorium of the School, and she was there the Sunday after getting out of the hospital, she won't let that get her down.
You see, all that ignorant retards who have nothing better to do than hurt others need to win out over the majority of people who aren't ignorant retards, is to make them fear.
Once you are fearful, they've won.
Keep your chin up, and stand strong in the face of adversity.

My ignorance? What are you talking about?
I will adapt my approach to their school choice based on their desires in life, and right now they excel in sports, basketball specifically, and I think Prep gives the best show for MY buck.
Prep is a private school. This means I DON'T HAVE to send them there. I could send them to Central, where I graduated from, FOR FREE and they'd get the same education!
BUT I'M TALKING ABOUT THE SPORTS PROGRAM!!!!
I'm not pushing my religion on you and I only referenced my group because it was relevant to the shooting, so shut your pie hole.
Your remark about my religion being the reason for my supposed (by you) ignorance lets me know you've had issue's with Christianity on a personal level.....were you an altar boy? LOL
Seriously, if you understood anything you'd drop your attempt at berating me and trying to diss me through your ill meant flippant remarks.
Smarter, faster, stronger: Words that describe me in contrast to you.
Think before you let your tongue get you in trouble.
This will definitely get you riled, and agitated , but you won't be hearing responses from me after this....you are therefore.......
IGNORED.

Well, this explains your ignorance perfectly. Say no more. May the Light and awesome power of His guidance and goodness walk with you throughout this glorious gift of life. And, always remember that your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ loves you... but everyone else thinks you're an A-Hole!

You know what's really funny about your post? You're actually the one displaying ignorance and "a-holeness"

I don't know if you're still looking for information, but I'd say anywhere outside Erie has EXTREMELY LOW crime rates. Even Erie itself doesn't have a high crime rate. Although I will say it seems to have gone up as of late.
I went to school in the Harbor Creek School District, and I honestly loved it. It's a bit more rural than Millcreek, but I preferred that. It's more of a "small town" atmosphere than Millcreek.
Additionally, and this is just my opinion, Millcreek's class sizes are getting outrageous, well over 600 kids last I knew. Harborcreek has a more modest 150-200. It makes for a much more intimate learning experience.
And all of the elementary schools in my opinion are pretty much equally good. Clark's a bit smaller than Klein or Rolling Ridge and it's more kids whose parents farm for a living or otherwise live on larger acreage, but education-wise I'd say it's about the same.
