"Must See" things in Lancaster County for Christmas
I'm going for a weekend getaway with my b/f and possibly another couple in the Lancaster area, we usually stay in the same hotel in Ronks, but may spluge and stay at Bird-in-Hand instead. I'm looking for things that we must see and do in the area for the holiday season (aside from the shopping - I know I got that covered ). We are planning on seeing the Christmas Show at the American Music Theatre. What else should not be missed if we are in the area? Here on the Island we have some drive through light shows and such, is there anything like that in the area to help us get into the Christmas Spirit?

This is slightly out of the Lancaster County area, but not too far. Kozier's Christmas Village in Bernville( Berks County) is one of the best Christmas light shows in the country and a top ten Pennsylvania attraction. It's a drive thru light dirsplay, with some gift shops and other things. Not too far from there, is Roadside America, one enormous train display and model village. It's not exactly a Christmas display, but model trains always make me think of Christmas. If you go to Koziar's, Murdough's Christmas Barn is along 422 towards the western edge of Berks County. They're a Christmas ornament seller with lost of things from europe and lots of Christmas items, particularly figurines.
Sheerlund Forest is along 625 in Kenhorst near Nolde Forest. It's another seller of christmas ornaments but they have free cocoa, cider and cookies and they do a large sale of live trees, wreaths, etc.
If you want a BIG selection of lights and ornaments and decorations, there's a place in Blue Ball in eastern Lancaster County just off route 23, a big craft and artificial flower store. That place is huge and their Christmas display is on the 2nd floor.
And the best part is that you're only a minute or two from Shady Maple, the biggest and best smorgasboard in Lancaster and the state.

Icy Tea, thanks for the info. Actually we're doing Kozier's Christmas Village when we go to Cabelas on Dec 12th. Found that online.
I'll have to check that place in Blue Ball near Shady Maple. My friend and I usually go down to the Shady Maple to do a little shopping for stuff we can't get up north. Do you think the Shady Maple smorgasboard is better than the one at Bird-in-Hand? That's where we usually do dinner, but I can be convinced to try something new.

I personally like Shady Maple for the variety and the sheer size. They can seat a thousand people in their dining room in their new building. Both are good in quality. Enjoy Cabela's, its fun to see even if you aren't into the outdoors.

I'll have to give it a try and report back, Icy Tea! Also, I found that Flower & Craft Warehouse online. I'm half tempted to call in sick and run down with my Momma to check that out! WOW! That place looks huge.
The only Cabela's I've been to was the one in East Hartford. Got some great field clothes and a new 'leatherman' type all in one for my purse. I've been told the one in PA is much bigger with more stuff. My friend is dying to go. We work in Natural Resource Management and it's hard sometimes to find outdoor clothes that are actually made for women and not just a smaller mens size.
