[quote=Time2Moov;139893]Let me know when you find a nice town in PA, doubt you will! Aside from a select few, I think Pennsylvanians are the worst people in the country. They're anti-social, rude, can't drive, and have the worst food I have ever tasted. I could write for hours recounting bad experiences with people in this state. The word "neighborly" is not in their creed. They also seem to be no smarter than a box of rocks. I cannot tell you how many times I've nodded my head in agreement talking to someone that was mentally unarmed, just to avoid pointing out their stupidity.
We moved down here 7 years ago to get away from NY cost of living. Well, since it appears to have followed us, we're headed back. The difference is marginal now (Montgomery County vs. Long Island). It's a little more in LI, but definitely worth it. I'm sorry, but to live here it would have to be like "Wyoming cheap". If you compare salary to housing down here, the ratio is now worse in PA. Buh-bye

I've had nothing but very positive experiences with Pennsylvanians, to date. Not a rude person in the bunch.
I'll take my New Jersey salary and PA mortgage, thank you.

not sure what a diverse school district has to do with anything...I went to an inner city school in the pgh school district with more than it's share of diversity, which probably explains why now that I can afford it, my kids are in a private school. Diversity for diversity's sake is useless. I'm sure my kids are glad they dont have to worry about defending themselves from knife wielding gang bangers in the 6th grade bathrooms like I did lol. Mt Lebanon is great by the way, possibly the best school districts in the state(and their own ice rink), quick walk or drive to everything, nice old neighborhoods that are actually affordable compared to bucks county where you cant buy anything decent for under 300k...and that's in a so-so neighborhood.

Diversity is often a code word these days for poor african-americans. When I think and speak about diversity I mean it as people that have different backgrounds and experiences as well as race. It's one thing to read about other countries but something else entirely to have a student speak about it first hand. Economic diversity is also not a bad thing. I do not want my kids to think that it's normal and expected to have their own bmw at 16 or that if they live in a large expensive house that they are better then someone else.

Anyone considering a move to Allegheny county should be fully informed about the air quality problem in the region:

The town smells like sulfur, smoke pours out of the ground, smoke even comes out of some of the graves in the cemetary. The trees are bare from the air pollution, and no snow falls here.
Nearby, the rivers run orange from acid mine waste, and there are heaps of coal slag surrounding the town where no vegetation can grow. You will rarely hear birds or see any wildlife near this town. Truly a testament to what damage man can do to the natural environment.

Wow, is that true or an old tale? Sounds horrible.

People are very friendly in Chambersburg and all of central, especially south PA.. generally, you may have have run into a few bad apples .
Chambersburg is for sure redneck country though.. VERY conservative and rural.
