Moving to Erie in a few weeks from California...Need Info
I'm moving to Erie in mid December from California. My wife will be driving our car and I'm driving the large moving truck and towing our minivan behind. Will I need chains that time of year on the minivan and moving truck? It will be all freeway driving but I'm concerned about the snow/ice.

I don't know about anywhere else along the drive but you won't need chains in Erie. Or at least in my 8 years or so living there I never saw anyone use them.
Going across the mountains in the west might be a different story though.

You might need them along the way, crossing the mountains etc., but not in Erie.
Drive safely!

Around Erie, front wheel drive and a good pair of all season radials is all you need. If the roads are really bad, they close them - not often, but it does happen. As the others mentioned, driving thru Colorado or other mountainous states may be something else entirely.

I always thought many areas banned the use of chains, i could be wrong though.

They may be banned in other parts of the country but not in California. Of course we here only really get snow in the mountains.
Anyone have a good website for home rentals? I've tried Craigslist and the Times News but I can't find as much info as I would like. We are looking to rent a 3 or 4 bedroom home in Millcreek, Harborcreek, Waterford, Edinboro, or Girard.

try some of the bigger name realtors. They should have some rental homes in this area. My impression is that there aren't a lot of houses for rent around here. There are quite a few apartment complexes.
