LOL, good luck finding gobs in California!!!

I just talked to my dad on the subject, and he said that the "Yost Dutch Maid Bakery Inc." now mail orders gobs, so what you said may be correct. Have not verified this, but it would be worth a try. They don't have a website, but Google turns up a number of (814)266-3191. Let us know if they do, as I would hit them up for some as well!

Last time I visited Johnstown, that's one of the first items I went for...

I can verify/confirm that yes, they do sell gobs via mail delivery to other areas. I also love their raisin cookies! I haven't come across any better than Yost's. As for gobs... yes, I like Dutch Maids, but the homemade kind they sell at the churches around here are better, IMHO. Plus, they make many varieties too. There's chocolate with peanut butter icing; there's pumpkin with cream chesse filling (almost a pumpkin roll, but in gob form) and a couple others.

I've found whoopie pies a close second, but don't quite reach the level of what I know to be a gob. I also had someone compare a moonpie (marshmallow filling) to a gob --- sorry, not even close!

I guess I'm fortunate as I'm still in Johnstown and can have a gob whenever I want -- along with Coney dogs & sundowners, Gallikers iced tea and french onion dip and an Em's torpedo sub. Yum.. good eats

Default RE: Dutch Maid gobs

By the way, these are the original gobs with the yellow icing made by Harris-Boyer with the sailor on the wrapper. They are now made by Dutch Maid Bakery in Johnstown, PA and have been made there since the early 1980's.

Thanks! They should taste exactly the way you remember them since they haven't been changed at all. The icing is my favorite part, though. There can never be enough of it.
