Any free parking in downtown harrisburg?
Is there any free parking in downtown Harrisburg? Any spots anyone know of if you get there early enough or is everything pay? I will be around Market Street area and do not mind walking a ways. Thank you, you guys are very helpful on this site.

Though not free, parking on City Island is half the cost of the city garages. I think there is a shuttle into central business district.

There is a limited amount of free, on-street parking on Front Street in Shipoke, near the hotel/Indian restaurant that is in that neighborhood. There is also free parking south of there, underneath I-83, though that's a long walk from downtown.
East of downtown, there is some free parking (along with metered parking) on 10th Street on both sides of Market Street.

Not really. Wherever there's no meters nearby is mostly residential permit parking. If you are arriving after 5PM, parking is free everywhere. The closest free parking is several blocks up 2nd street (past Boas, I believe) but this may be residential permit...I'd have to drive by and check.
Why not just pay a couple bucks? Parking isn't expensive in Harrisburg.

There is some, free, around on Market and surrounding area, but it's usually full. City Island is cheap and about a half mile in, very nice walk. I think it's 4 or 5 dollars.
