Quiet, Affordable Rentals Near Nature for a Writer
Hello,
Would anyone know of a good, quiet place for a writer to live alone in an affordable house to rent or buy with wood trails nearby, and where people courteously keep to themselves while being pretty friendly? A good place to bike or commute by bike?--though not as important. Maybe with used book stores or libraries near enough around? I would look for a local job; jobs of course are hard to find everywhere. My rental budget would be $500 to $1000, and though I'd prefer northeastern PA, statewide suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.

You should look for a rental near Frick Park here in Pittsburgh, particularly on Reynolds Street, which is in my neighborhood. You would never know you are in the city, and you have a beautiful 600 acre park full of trails.

I live in southeastern PA (Lehigh Valley area), and I would have to say Oley, PA; New Hope, PA; Delaware Water Gap, PA; Jim Thorpe, PA, Palmerton, PA (near Blue Mountain and the Appalachian Trail).

Jim Thorpe would be great. If I was single, I would love to live in the apartment above Blue Mountain Sports.

If you're not absolutely tied into the NE, look around the Cook Forest/Allegheny National Forest area. Towns would be Sigel, Fisher (can't get there from here), Snydersburg, Leeper, Tionesta, Queen, East or West Hickory, Kane, Smethport, bunches of others. Oh, Marienville, Cooksburg, Lafayette. Big geographical area in my list. There are areas where there is no cell service.
