^^^^How about you finding out about self control? At least you might stop embarrassing yourself.....nobody excuses this gal's very apparent lapse of common sense (we all got that right away...) and few, if any, should excuse your obnoxious input hee and elsewhere......in your own way you are as easily offensive on the internet highway as the worst drivers are on the literal highway.......look up "tact" in your adult behaviour manual......and practice yourself some.......

THANK YOU Was PA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In2dadark....if it makes you happy, I have forbidden my daughter to drive. Since we live in the country, she will stay at home...forever. She has quit school and her job. There are no trains, planes, buses or taxis in the country. Since she won't be any real danger on the road anymore, I thought about not getting the life insurance you suggested, but then again, there is a very good chance by me keeping her locked up that she will kill herself, so I opted for the life insurance anyway.
Wanting2relocate...No, an Aunt, Uncle or Grandparent living in the same house would not be responsible...they are not the PARENTS. I don't know where you live but here where I live, children's parents are held responsible for the actions of their children.
I have said it before and I'll say it one more time, I'm not defending her actions, I am moving forward and making the best choices for all of us. I was never looking for parenting advice.

ILOVEPA....I, and most people, understand your thinking. I believe you were 'talking out loud' in order to process how your daughter could do something so risky. Young people do dumb things. It doesn't make them horrid humans. It means they haven't lived long enough to absorb the potential consequences of some choices. Most 10yo ride their bikes up the middle of the street thinking that they are autonomous and invincible. We learn from experience. You daughter just had one of the experiences.
I doubt there's one of us who can't come up with some incident in our youth when we don't stop and think, "Thank, God! What was I thinking!?!"
I also think age 19 was different 30 years ago. Kids seem to stay kids longer now.
You feel bad enough. Take what ya need and leave the rest.
Sorry for the drift. Now I'm back to geography/real estate talk.

Yes, I had a VERY large speeding ticket which cost me big time. I got pegged doing 137 in my vette on I-80 last summer. The speed limit was 70. Right before I looked up and saw the trooper's lights, my needle was around 196-198. He only clocked me at 137, so that's how long it took for him to catch up on a straight-away where I noticed him chasing me about three quarters of a mile in my rear-view.
I was cuffed and arrested for reckless driving, lost my license for a month (would have been a year, but I had no prior tickets). My fine was 550 dollars. Three points. Good lawyer who was drinking buddies with the cop helped a little.

Speeding tickets
Speeding tickets are stupid. They should focus on the slow drivers who cause the accidents. Why are the people who can process data and information quicker than others the ones who are held back.
If they want to strictly enforce speeding laws they should make speeding rules a little more flexible. ie if it is 1 in the afternoon and there are no cars on the highway the should allow speeds of upto a 100mph. I can control at a 100 better than 60. 60 makes me sleepy.
I hate getting caught behind idiots who drive slower than the speed limit. Its not that they want to be safe, its just that they are too damn slow. Why not be going at the maximum speed allowed? If you want to take your time, just walk. It seems like alot of drivers are better off walking, because the car is struggling to haul their fat ass.
Anyway I recently got a ticket in Maryland for going 94 in a 65. It was 9pm, road was clear. I don't think I was going that fast, but whatever it is not unlikely that I was driving at that speed. Why have the horse if they can't play?? The pansy cop also thought I had a gun because I put my hands into the shorts under my jeans to get my license. Dumb pansy ass I swear some cops are mentally retarded. Its quite obvious if someone has a gun. I think he reached for his gun (my mind had flashes of the movie Crash, when the kid was killed for reaching in his pants to get the St. Anthony figurine).
Enough of the story, there is no reason 94 should not be allowed at that time. But does anyone know if this affects my PA driver's record, and how do the points spill over, based on MD law or PA law?

I don't have too much to add on the speeding issue but wanted to share this website with you where you can check up on your kids/family to see if there are any tickets or criminal offenses:
Search by: Magisterial District Justice Other Criteria
Have fun searching

Question for I Love Pa
I just received a speeding ticket a few days ago (99 mph in a 65 zone). This happened on I-476. Additionally, the trooper saw fit to tack on a careless driving infraction, raising the entire incident to an 8-point violation. Other than this one instance, my record is perfect, except for some parking tickets. I intend on contesting the ticket and pleading with the magistrate to "look to my clean record" and hopefully remove some points. How did you proceed to handle your daughter's ticket? What was the outcome? Did the judge let her take that safe driving class to remove some points? I'm curious because we are in a similar boat, as anything over 31 mph over the speed limit is considered "excessive speeding" and some legal options, like the driving course, are removed from the legal table. My major concern is my insurance, as I'm a 25 year old male, and I figure they are going to raise my rate substantially.

No Sympathy
Sealerpal, Mystykal & Bigbizzez, I have absolutely no sympathy for any of you and hope you all get slammed with the highest possible penalties. There's a reason why your insurance rates are so high, duh, people like you getting your rocks off by driving at 100+ mph, thinking you're impressing people. You're not. Most of us just laugh at your utter stupidity. Your lack of concern for others on the road is inexcusable. Obviously none of you have children, or have ever loved or been loved by one. By the way, Sealerpal, there is NO place on I-80 where the speed limit is 70 mph and I believe you know that.
