Re I Love PA's post...it's 100% accurate. The cost of everything on Long Island is higher than anywhere else I know! I pay $650.00 a month for car insurance, $500.00 a month for gas & electric, $50.00 a month for water, $550.00 a month in taxes alone. Gas for the car is higher, groceries are more expensive, even eating out is more expensive. Not to mention the 8.625% sales tax! Even my cable bill is $133.00 a month (with internet access). Can't wait to move to PA!

We have found Pa a great place to live. After living in NY and Nj we moved to Pa 7 years ago. It is cheaper to live here then in NY and much more reasonable then NJ. We actually looked into moving south for better weather but those states that say they have low property taxes have higher income taxes then Pa. Our car insurance is cheap and the utilitiy bills are lower then the national averages. Also Pa is one of the few states that do not tax pension or social security incomes. Now if we just get the global warming to center over our state.......! We also did the commute to NY for 6 yrs and we no longer have to do it. It wasn't bad 6 years ago but our last year of commuting you can just see the volume of cars increasing to an unbearable amount. Just an opinion

My husband also commuted for a year, he had to wait till he could reach 10 yrs. to lock in a pension at his job on L.I. He stayed with his parents a couple of nights a week and came home once mid-week for a year. He was lucky to find a job with a good trucking outfit in Pa. and actually made about $15,000. more a year which afforded me to work part-time and spend more time with our girls. We moved from a money pit house on LI to an almost new house here in the Pocono's and all our bills were literally slashed in half. I can still remember changing our address with our car insurance company and the Rep. telling me my new rates and I was stunned! Even registering my girls for dance class. I paid $60. for one in NY and $30. for 2 in Pa. Everything is way cheaper and still is.
