Default Help with relocation to Norristown/Sinking Spring.

My fiance is finishing up with law school in michigan and we are ready to relocate closer to our families in PA. She has received an externship in Norristown and I got a job in Sinking Spring, PA. We are looking for a nice town in between. Our goal is to split the commute. We have been looking in Pottstown, but we aren't sure of the area. If anyone has any info. on Pottstown, please reply. We are looking to start renting by mid April, so if anyone knows of any nice apt complexes or houses available for rent in Pottstown, please let us know. Does anyone have any further suggestions as far as towns that would split the commute? I would appreciate any replies. Help us, we are about to go crazy!!! Thanks everybody.

Default either is fine.

we live in lansing, michigan now, so we are used to having everything around us. but i want to be able to afford where i live. doesn't look like we have much of a choice though if we want to split the commute.

A quick note about Pottstown, the Limerick Nuclear Power plant is fairly close, and very large. It can be seen for miles away. It may not be an issue for you, but I thought you might want to know that.

I did a check on an online cost of living calulator, and it's cheaper to live where you presently are than here. I hope your future employment offsets that positively. Lancaster and Reading are the lowest at 7% higher, Philly and Allentown are considerably higher at 25%-30%.

Here's links to the main newspapers of the area:

Default Apts.

I saw an ad for them while working in the area. If you Google the address and look at the map provided, then go to the satellite view, you'll be able to see where the apartments are located in relation to the nuke plant.

My husband and I are relocating to PA from FL. We looked into the Pottstown area, and found that the schools are not highly recommended, which is important to us. Pottstown is also a very "old" town, I am told there are area's that are better than others. We will be looking at home in Sinking Springs and Bernville in the next few weeks. Good luck with your search!

From what I reseached whem we moved here, Pottstown is not the place to be if you have kids. Aside from the schools, in the newspaper a while back was an article about how it had the highest childhood cancer rates in the area. I would think you would want to stay away from Norristown in general. Two good towns for you may be Birdsboro or Oley (historic downtown). Have you thought about Exton if you want something more suburban? Or Morgantown?
