Hi.
I'm moving to the State College area and need some help. I was wondering if anyone knows some good web sites to look at to find housing in the area? Actual State College would be fine but I was really looking at the surrounding towns such as Bellefonte. I haven't really found much using the "major" apartment websites and was wondering if any one had any suggestions or knew the websites for the newspapers of the area. I'm 26 and will be living in the area for only about two or three years doing research. Since I will not be there long I am mostly looking for studios or 1 bedroom apartment (something on the cheap). I can't really go too far outside of town as I will have to get a regular (non-career) job to pay the bills while I conduct my research. Any help would be much appreciated and thank you! ![]() |

With Penn State right there, you're going to have trouble finding anything "on the cheap" in State College. I've never looked outside of SC for housing so it may be better, but I would have to think it will be on the expensive side anywhere close to PSU. My roomates and I paid a total $900/m for our Beaver Ave 1-bedroom apartment 6 years ago.
The plus side is that there is a great public transportation system down there. Check out CATA and see if they run by the area you might want to live before you choose a place. |

Well, if you're looking for a house or a condo, happyvalleyhomes.org is the way to go. But, in your case, I would suggest www.centredaily.com | -- Front, statecollege.com, or statecollegecentral.com. They all would help. Good luck!

Are there any apartments or houses/rooms for rent in the Toftrees area? Before they rejected my grad school application (which is fine, I prefer the flat featureless cornfields of Illinois ...), I was looking at condos up there. Maybe that would be an option.
