I've been a big advocate of Erie and it's relative safety. I do have to admit, there have been shootings on the east side of the city on a daily basis for the past month. But keep in mind, these are isolated to a very specific area of the CITY, and not occuring throughout Erie County as a whole.

What is it like for you and your wife? We are a mixed couple w/ White and Asian and have young bi-racial kids, and nervous about moving to the Erie area. We were considering Millcreek. I guess we will be wealthy for Erie's standard coming from a bigger city. Would people accept our kids there?

The people all act like they are high society - when in fact, they don't have a pot to pee in and they don't have a window to throw it out of.

When I suggested to my one cousin to put up a outdoors aerial to improve her television reception - she got all snooty with me and said that she would never have a antenna on the outside of her house. It's a sign of poverty to those people and they wouldn't want to be branded that way.

my dad had an antenna business back in the early 70`s in Erie.....most of the towers connected to peoples homes were installed by him.....company was called "Tullio and Bohman antennas".......this was before cable started coming into the city.....

im sure 50 people will read this and try to defend it..i dont care, i grew up in erie, my uncle at one time was the district attorney. so dont say "you have no idea what your talking about". if you think erie is great your blind to the facts. get off your computer and go somewhere else and experience a better life..i did.

Damn right. Everything here is DYING like in Cleveland. But at least Cleveland didn't illegalize the freaking 12 pack! Also, Cleveland has SOME prostitutes who are UNDER the age of 45, and are NOT bald. Female ones, too. Anyone who's been on Parade Street or 18th knows what I'm talking about. I'm about to move away soon, I've lived in Erie 3 years. I live in the ghetto now surrounded by low class ignorant white trash and gangbangers. All the white people my age are mean nasty wiggers, and all the older white people are just kinda ignorant drunk rednecks who make a lot of noise. There's NOTHING here except for that amusement park, but everywhere around here has an amusement park SOME where. I'm tired of roving gangs of homosexual crackheads making advances at me on State St. when I'm minding my own business, if I wasn't diagnosed with a mental disorder I would buy a gun and shoot 'em right in the ass, and say "there, you like it in the ***?"

No offense against all gay men. Just the gay men in Erie are a bunch of perverted rapists and I advise all straight men walking down State St. downtown at night to carry a pistol to defend themself, because they get in large numbers, and they ARE aggressive and they have no respect for other people's sexuality, they are actually "heterophobic" I believe.

So if you're a redneck, aggressive homosexual crackhead, a drunk biker, an ignorant white trash wigger, or a black kid who likes to kill and rape old ladies, then come to Erie. NOONE here questions conformity, NOONE here questions the system, NOONE here demands change. NOONE here makes a stand, or breaks the mold.

Sounds like you've been indulging a bit yourself.

You have got to be kidding me. This is just to put a couple of things straight for yall. Born and raised in Erie, Love my home time. I travel all over the country and l have found that this is the type of place that you live and keep you life simple. Looking to get rich? Erie is not for you. Looking to have a quiet comfortable life. You have arrived. FYI: I have a very good job and I dont work for the govenment or erie insurance. Let me give you the names of several major employers that you are omiting. We have the many colleges in our area. Between them they have to employ 3-5 thousand people. We have the barber center, there goes another 500 jobs, the casino, GECAC, the hotels. And dumbass, NYC would fail if it were not for its tourists. Every piece of land must profit from its resources, or resource happens to be history, therefore attracting tourist, therefore keeping our city thriving, what the **** do your parents have a home here for if its such a horrible place, tell them to try florida, And FYI, your neighboorhood has several vacant homes for sale. That is the unfortunate effect of a recession

I am not saying that you cannot prosper elsewhere, but dont be mad because you were too much of a loser to find success in your surroundings. I have been to the bigger cities and I agree we are stuck up in erie. So what. Dont be mad because we set our standards too high for you. Go somewhere and marry a lady that everyone automatically assumes lives in a trailer, get a man with a mullet, I mean are you all serious. I have a daughter, and I am going to raise her to be just as snobby and high class as her mommy, she is going to expect all the best things in life and she is going to insist that she acquires anything she sets her heart for. Now as for everyone in Erie being so poor, I am going to have to ask what ur definition is? My husband and I both make less than 40k a year and we are livin lovely. No debt, I plan to take my family all around the world and not going to miss a beat on my bills, We own three cars and live in a mini mansion. Now are u livin like that where you are, or are you mad because you cant figure out how to get on that level, If you were a loser in erie, then changing your surroundings is not going to help. Place me in a third world country, and I would walk on marble floors. Stop being such a hater and get on your ****, that way no matter where you live, the city is tha **** cuz your there. And on one final note, A major important part of my life is getting dressed and joining the fashon show in the bar scene, I crack up at how girls look at me (or at there man looking at me) when I am out of town. You can spot an erieite from anywhere just by the way we strut with our heads held high lol

Default can someone tell me about GE

i have an offer from GE. looks like they are growing and hiring again - it is an engineering position - paying over $70k. Is GE transportation doing well? i heard that in 2008, they overhired and then there were layoffs in 2009?

is erie a good place to live? also, i am asian, how much diversity is out there?

I have to agree. I have lived here in the racial town for 13 years. My neighbors are *******s and unfriendly. Everyone looks at you like they are better than you. THere is no diversity here in Erie. Most of the white people think that they **** ice cream. I cannot wait to leave this dead ass town. The people here would look at you and not smile; like they got a rod up their ass.
