What do you think is happening in PA? The sky high taxes, nothing accomplished, blatant corruption, liberal agenda, etc. Even this election more of the counties went Blue. Heck, this is a state that supports Murtha.

PA is a moderate state if anything which is why I love it...something for everyone.
The whole state except Philly, Pittsburgh, Harrisburgh, Allentown and Reading would be more conservative.
You could drive twenty minutes outside of Philly and feel like your in Wyoming.

But cities like Erie are not blue because they're far left liberals like in San Francisco....Rust belt cities in PA like Erie, Scranton, Allentown, etc, vote democrat because of labor and economic issues.....the issues that democrats used to stand for before they became the party of abortion-on-demand and political correctness.

Well said, go phillies. That's why I registered Democrat when I turned 18. My parents and my friend's parents were all Democrats because we grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood (SW Philly). However, just because I'm a Democrat doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with everything on the platform. Like most of my neighbors here in Lititz I consider myself to be a conservative but since it's known I came from Philly people automatically assume I'm a liberal who wants to change their way of life with my fancy, big-city ways. Far from it. I came here to embrace the conservative, quiet lifestyle that a small town usually has to offer and to blend in with everyone else but instead I'm judged by the policies and actions of others.

I'll get the popcorn and wait for you to get data and then change it to fit your world, which you'll have to do because my post it based on the GOP's platform and you'll also see that most Red states get back more in Federal dollars than they put in.

Not far left liberals like in San Francisco, but still more left-leaning than most of the state (save Philadelphia). Erie votes democrat for the reasons you mention, but also because of its collective postion on social issues. Erie is much more aligned politically and socially with New York state than it is with Pennsylvania, and has much more in common with cities like Buffalo (25th most liberal city), Cleveland (11th), and Detroit (1st) than it does with any other cities in PA. Political scientists consider Erie to be the second most liberal city in the state after Philly. I just added this because I saw that Wolfman left Erie off the list which included Philly, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Allentown, and Reading; and that the rest of the state would be considered "conservative" aside from those.
Actually, Allentown is considered to be one of the more conservative cities in the US. According to the non-partisan Bay Area Center for Voting Research, Allentown ranks as 12th most conservative city on the list. The results are based on liberal/conservative voting records, and a very high correlation was found with percentage of Black population in the cities. The cities with low African-American populations (like Allentown) tended to vote more in line with conservative issues.
In this same study Erie ranked as the 68th most liberal city in the US (higher than many larger cities). Philadelphia was 18th and Pittsburgh was 35th. No other PA cities made the list.

In my neck of the woods, Somerset County is the most conservative. However, Cambria County and Blair County, although with 2 to 1 registration of dems, is still a conservative area. As was mentioned, they're conservative dems, "Regan Democrats", however you wish to term them. I live here so I know. We are family value / community based people who enjoy sports, outdoors, family and yes in most instances religion.
However, be aware our area is typically the worst economic area of the state, given that the steel mills closed, mines shuttered and the railroad moved on down the track. Our economy now is more diverse with a focus on healthcare/medicine, tourism, service industry with a smattering of defense business and tech industry just getting established here. There's still manufacturing, but it's in decline, just like everywhere else.

Ironically, many of the scenic western Pennsylvania counties (like Cambria, Blair, Clearfield, Elk) are economically depressed. They've been on a downward track ever since I moved away in the 60's. (Not suggesting a cause and effect there!) High welfare rolls, few good employment opportunities. I have family living there, and they always vote the conservative line, which sometimes mystyfies me. They hate "socialsm," but collect their SS and use Medicaid and sad to say, some cousins have never held a job in their lives, living off the public dole. Also, finding a way to become permanently disabled is a sport.

LOL! I'm a conservative, and I find it incredible that people would actually base something as fundamental as relocation, on their political views. I've had the experience of living in two of the most conservative places in the USA. Colorado Springs, and Greenville/Spartanburg South Carolina. Such places tend to be as bizarre in their own way, as Berkeley or Boulder. Worse, they are a crashing bore. I hope this isn't the kind of nation we are becoming. Idiots clumping together in little tribalistic communities, out of fear of being exposed to different ideas, and types of people. God, I can imagine what kind of freak children will be the product of such an upbringing. Maybe you people should immigrate back to Europe. The Balkans would be a great place to start. Better yet, grow up, and expand your horizons.
