Default City of Reading

I refuse to write this city off as a cesspool. There has to be some good neighborhoods and good amenities in this city. I've heard the downtown development is coming along nicely, it's an up-and-coming city for young professionals (it's certainly cheap) and crime is falling. Let's hear some positive stuff about this city and hopefully some pictures! Please no posts about how the whole city should be written-off, that's not what this thread is for.

I live in College Heights (near Albright college) and love my neighborhood. I recently moved here from the Lehigh Valley and selected this home since its located in an area with some of the most beautifully architectured homes I've ever seen in PA.

we just moved to a suburb of Reading (near Wyomissing) and although we have found it hard to adjust because it seems people are not really open to "transients" , we found a really nice little area ; West Reading.. nice, walkable area that has some great little cafes it seems and nice shops..
I think the suburbs are probably better but again,we just moved here and we don't know much about the city itself.

The areas surrounding Reading(Wyomissing, the heavily police protected college areas, Muhlenberg) may be safe but Reading couldn't suck more a$$.

Would you like an example?

The high school has a principal named Wynton Butler. He is incompetent in every fascet and is occasionally called the invisible principal for his lack of involvement.

A school board member brought up the option a few weeks ago of firing him. One of Butler's friends thew the man to the ground and went to hit him with a chair.

..and these are the people running the city.

DO NOT COME HERE!

I have spent my whole life here and hate it.

My friend who came from Guatamala and spent a year in Jersey even hates it.

The only area in the city that is at all safe is maybe if you consider West reading to be part of Reading..most people don't.

Come here though if you don't believe me and witness it for yourself...if you don't get shot first.
