Question Living and commuting between Lancaster and Baltimore

Hi I am a young professional and I recently got a job in Lancaster. My husband is working for a year in East Baltimore. We are debating where the best place to live is where neither of our commutes is too bad. Does anyone familiar with the area know if commuting from York or Shrewsburry to Baltimore (down 83 and 895) would be really congested? How long would it take during rush hour?
Thanks for your help!

You might want to check out downtown York. It's a straight shot to Lancaster on 30 and Baltimore on 83. There is a growing young professional's scene.

There are A LOT of people who live just north of the PA/MD line who commute to Baltimore. There is some traffic, not super bad, but it can be stop and go at times (based on my limited experience when I lived in Harrisburg and would go to Baltimore at the PM rush - I'd see the traffic heading north).

Somewhere around York would be a good option. I personally like the town of Red Lion. Another option would be to live near the state line in southern Lancaster County, southeastern York County, northern Harford County, or northwestern Cecil County. You wouldn't really have limited-access roads to work with, but the traffic probably wouldn't be bad, especially coming towards Lancaster.
