Pottstown area????
My husband and I are relocating to Pa in a few months. I was wondering if anyone could provide some information on Pottstown and I see that it's located in Chester and Montgomery Counties...is one county better than the next?
Thanks so much!

pottstown overlaps both counties. It's not what you would consider a great area. The prices for homes are very reasonable for the area surrounding philly. but the town is definately run down. a godd day spent driving through the area will show you what I mean. there are some newer homes on the outskirts of the town which are nice.

To add to what William said. Pottstown is an older town that has seen better days. Parts of the city though , especially a couple of the northern neighborhoods are very livable and quite nice.
Chester and Montgomery Counties up near Pottstown are very similar although Chester County probably has the best landscape of all the Philadelphia area counties. Lush green rolling hills and valleys. Plenty of open space.
Chester Springs,Pickering ,Kimberton,Lionville,Valley Forge are about 10 miles south of Pottstown and all are spectacular. Dont know too much about the north side of Pottstown other than its very rural with excellent views of rolling hills.

i work as a realtor and according to the ethics rules we must show you homes in the areas the customer wants to see not where the realtor wants. you can do some research on the interenet about these areas and check the crime rate and schools

Where will you be working?
What type of neighborhood are you looking for.Peaceful + quiet? Vibrant close to great shopping? Older towns or mcmansions?
Pottstown is pretty far out of the loop comparitively speaking. Theres better choices to be had. No offense to Pottstown, I actually like Pottstown but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I would never move to Pottstown. I was born and raised here and looking to leave the state. Did you know there is a landfill here? A couple of summers ago you could smell the stench from the landfill for weeks. They were fined, but it was very unpleasant. Also you should do a search on A.C.E. in Pottstown and check out the stats for cancer etc. I know al ot of very sick people that live here. Not to mention the town has nothing to offer.
