Default Possibly relocating to Wyomissing area

I currently live in Los Angeles and could be moving to the Wyomissing area for a new job. I'm curious to see where people would recommend for me to live and I will be renting.

The area seems nice but just need a little assistance when it comes to information on the area. I'm early 30's and enjoy being on the move so I hope there are things to do. A positive is that Philly is close.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, it's definitely nothing like LA, that's for sure. I grew up in the Reading suburbs and recently moved back to the area after attending grad school in NC. The Reading metro area (Berks County) has a population of about 400,000, but it is part of the larger Philly metro area, which has a population of just under 6 million. Wyomissing is a nice, quiet, more upscale suburb of Reading. As far as a place to rent, I would check out Wyomissing Square, which is a mixed-use residential/retail community currently being constructed. It will be one of the more luxurious apartment complexes in the area. I'm actually looking to rent there myself once constructed, which should be sometime this summer according to the property manager.

As far as entertainment or things to do, there are some decent restaurants, bars, and clubs, but they tend to get old. As you mentioned, Philly is pretty close. I'm there visiting friends/going out almost every other weekend. It's about a 50 minute drive (no traffic) from where I live. NYC is only 2-2.5 hours away, and DC is about a 3 hour trip. If you're looking for something to do on the weekend, you shouldn't have a problem finding something within driving distance. Good luck!! By the way, where will you be working?

Default Appreciate It

Chris,

I appreciate the information because I just want to be sure to make the right decision on where to live. My interview is next week and I'm going to look around a bit while in town. I actually look forward to seeing the area and think I might enjoy the laid back environment.

Cheers.

Please let us know what you think. I'm considering a move to that area as well.

Wyomissing Hills was rated a best community for families due to their frequent community activities. I don't get out that way much but its a very nice upscale residential area.
