Safe Suburbs of Lancaster County? (Harrisburg, Ephrata: school district, live, stores)

Can anyone recommend any safe suburban towns in Lancaster County with relatively young families and good public schools?

It might be easier to tell you which towns aren't as safe as the others. I've HEARD that Columbia and Ephrata have drug issues. To me, the best family town is where I live, Lititz. The school district (Warwick) is excellent. Downtown is pleasant, with a variety of stores and activities. Lititz Springs Park is terrific. People that visit us from out of town love taking their children there before they leave so they'll sleep on the way home! Good luck with your search.

I think there are drug issues everywhere, you can hide from it. If your kid goes to school, no matter how nice, there will be drugs around. I think any of the suburbs are safe when compared to the city.

Try Elizabethtown which is about halfway between Harrisburg and Lancaster. If you do a search on this site, you should come up with a lot of information on E-town.

Lititz, Lititz, Lititz! I lived there for 16 years and as long as you can take a slightly backwards approach to life. Its a absolutely beautiful place. Safe? i hardly ever even locked my doors! You would not be sorry!
