Meadville isn't bad. Franklin is a nice area, so is the Shenango Valley(Stay out of Farrell though).

What kind of specific attributes are you looking for? Your post above is a little vague.
When I went to IUP for graduate school, I thought Indiana was a very nice town. Though the university obviously plays a huge role in the community, it doesn't fully dominate it, especially north of Philadelphia Street.

The Shenango Valley is nice. Farrell borough is rough, but I think everything else is pretty good over there. Not far from Pittsburgh and Youngstown or even Cleveland.

I see a previous poster beat me to it, but I would also suggest Indiana. A little more information on what you expect or hope to find in a new location would be helpful.

Having a place in Cook Forest, I've always been partial to Clarion and Brookville, but it might get kinda boring during the winter.

Brockway and Ridgway both seem to have good family atmosphere and access to outdoor activities. A rail trail connects the two, not as crazy crowded as at Connellsville/Ohiopyle. Punxsutawney seems to have a positive feel too (I've not been there on Groundhog Day).
