Sidewalk Proposal in Camp Hill
Did anyone else in Camp Hill see the article about the sidewalk lien proposed for properties with unwalkable walks?
I think it is your OBLIGATION if you live in an "urban" suburb to provide a safe walking environment. I am 34 and have nearly killed myself walking the dogs. I resent the statement that this "person" will forfeit some equity at closing to address non-compliant walks:
1.) any compitent engineer will address this walks in the property report
2.) you are exposed to liability with the current condition
3.) your property looks unattractive with 'jacked up' walks
4.) this should be part of your normal 'replacement' budget each year. I am sorry you were irresponsible but don't make my 96-year old grandmother a shut-in because she is afraid to walk 2 blocks to my house (she is not disabled).
Take a walk down North 29th Street. I think 95% of the houses are compliant and it is, in my opinion, one of the most attractive streets in the borough (I do not live on 29th).
Take pride in your home. Why are you trying to ignore normal, necessary maintenance?
