Pureblood is on a distinguished road
Default Read an article on Gobs

OK so I was looking at yahoo and i saw a head line "Whoopie Pies climbing in popularity" The whole article is here. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/di...o_interstitial

Well i dont travel from PA that much and i really only heard Gobs being called whoopie pies once before. Do you call them gobs or whoppie pies? What part of the state are you from. I am in Blair county and have always heard gobs.

It surprised me that it wasn't already everywhere. I always thought everyone knew what a gob was and has has one before. Maybe i am just dumb. lol

In Juniata, Perry, and Dauphin counties they are called Whoopie Pies. Don't know about tasty goodness 'cause I've never eaten one -- and don't plan to, either. 'Sitting broad' is not part of the Pennsylvania lifestyle I am willing to embrace

From the 50s I remember a packaged commercial product sold in the NYC metro area (more of a cookie-like chocolate part, though, than a cake -- with a similar filling) were called Scooter Pies. Less fatty than the original, it was just a grossly sweet snack -- and we loved them!

Gobs are a tasty, (although not very healthy) snack. Good to see them catching on elsewhere.
