I was born in Titusville, and only driven through a couple times since...my question is; how is the city? What are the pros and cons, things to do, education, etc? Any info would be great, thanks!!!

Unemployment is very high, and that area of the commonwealth is a hot bed for meth labs and drug manufacturing arrests. Still beautiful to drive through and enjoy the tourist attractions but thats about it.

The newest thing there is a WalMart that was built a couple years ago. As far back as I can remember there never was much of anything to do there so that hasn't changed. I grew up in Oil City in the 50s and 60s, every so often we'd cruise up to Titusville to see what was going on - get there and turn around and come back home. Now I pass thru on my way fishing or to visit my parents. Nothings changed.

It's just a small town with not much going on. No industry, no promise, just very small town America.

I have driven through there. It is a gorgeous area but the town has been hard hit economically like most of rural pa. Great outdoor opportunities.

I always enjoy driving through there (nice motorcycle ride through there) and it's great for outdoor activities, but I would not consider putting down roots there. Very little going on. Nice scenics, though. As a photographer, I love to stop for a few shots when I go through.

As a Titusville native, it saddens me to say that the city is dead. It's not dying...it's already dead. There are no jobs, no hope for any revival, and with the arrival of Sam Walton and Co., downtown Titusville is nothing more than a ghost town.
Pros? Proximity to I-79, Erie, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. The history of the area is also a big plus, owing to the presence of the oil industry of a century and a half ago. CATA also operates bus routes specifically serving the city of Titusville now.
Cons? As previously mentioned, Wal-Mart came into town and cleaned out downtown. Everything's practically gone, with the exception of some bars and a few hangers-on from days gone by. Many old staples of downtown have closed, some replaced, some not. I can't exactly blame Wally World for this (for example, Buyers' Fair still thrives in the city), but the Titusville I grew up in during the mid-late 1980s was WORLDS apart from the Titusville of 2009. My opinion.

It makes me sad that the opinion of Titusville is so glum. We moved up here in the 80s when the town was going strong. We did raise a family and have a thriving business in our town.Yes the business side of Titusville has been hit hard but our city is working hard to rebound from this hardship. On the drug aspect our police department has done a good job in getting rid of the drugs. We are very fortunate to have an awesome school system and the University of Pittsburgh campus. We have Drake Well along with great parks ,walking and bike trails. We also have a train that will take you through the valley that changed the world. If you are looking for a good brewery come visit the Blue Canoe. If your looking for a small town to raise your family with good schools you found the perfect place. We are only 45 minutes from Erie pa.
