Say NO to Norristown!!!!!!
Areas like Blue Bell, King of Prussia, Montgomeryville, Huntingdon Valley, and Limerick are the "backbone of Montgomery County". Norristown is the "derriere of Montgomery County." The 700 block of W. Lafayette St is not the most hideous part of town--that is reserved for 600-1000 blocks of Cherry Street--1000 blocks of Dekalb, Willow, and Powell are downright frightening. However, in recent years, most of the riff-raff from the east end of norristown moved west---and 700 is not far enough west. Maybe a 2 or 3 month stay wouldn't be the worst; but I would get out of there as soon as possible. With all the drug activity and prostitution it surely doesn't qualify as safe. Most people who live in Norristown do so because they have to; not because they want to. Move to the Collegeville/Limerick area--it is beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Hi hi!
Don't know if it's too late to add input, but I live less than two miles from the 700 block of Lafayette and know the area quite well. (And, by coincidence, am a native born Arizonan.)
The neighborhood your house is in is a "working class" area. The annual household income for that area would be roughly $28k to $45. You're two blocks of Main Street (Ridge Pike). Within a mile you'll find the fire station, the Septa Main Street train station, a McDonalds, a CVS drug store, a motel, and a smattering of home businesses. There's also the Schukyll River a couple blocks away. It's a mature neighborhood, surrounded by history.
Is it a crime-ridden neighborhood? No. Is it a desirable neighborhood? Not really. You'll find a core of people who've lived there for decades and a fair number of "pass-throughs" and "getting bys". Is it a livable neighborhood? Yes. VERY different from the wide open spaces of Arizona. Think COZY, instead of CRAMPED and you'll do fine living there.
Hope this helps!
Rachel Ann

I know this is not a lot of help, but call up your the councilman/councilwoman that represents your area/precinct, and tell them about your issues and that you want your block cleaned up.
