It might have no affect. This was several years ago, but I dated a guy who had multiple DWIs in NJ and NY and PA was the only state he could get a drivers license in. I am not sure, but NJ might not report the ticket to PA.

As far as I know, PA and NJ have reciprocal reporting of moving violations to the respective DMVs. If you want court supervision but it isn't practical to go to NJ, you might try contacting the D.A. or the traffic attorney in the county where the ticket was issued and work out a plea agreement over the phone and explain to them why it's not practical for you to return to the state for driving school. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it does.

Not true. both NJ and PA are both part of the Drivers License Compact. That means, yes, your ticket WILL be reported to the PA DMV, UNLESS you can get court supervision.

Hi
I did some research, PA does not accept points from NJ, if the violation is minor, and PA considers moving violation as minor, DUI and accident are consider majort.
But i am not sure how the insurance company acts, do theygo and check record in NJ?

The state may not assess points against your license (which I'm skeptical about but it's irrelevant to this discussion anyway), but the violation WILL be reported to the PA Secretary of State's Office and show up on your driving abstract, which is what your insurance company looks at, unless you can get court supervision. Getting court supervision typically requires appearing in court to plead guilty and requesting supervision, though I previously described a possible procedure for requesting supervision without appearing in court.

I got a speeding ticket here a few years ago -- going 17 mph over the limit. I forget how many points that was. The (major) insurance company either never looked or didn't care and my premium never changed. I think the points disappear after a certain amount of time.

You can always ask the courthouse where the tickets is paid to if you will incur any points on your Pa license. I'm pretty sure if you don't dispute the ticket and pay through the mail , they do not report it to Pa. This is what I was told when I paid a ticket in Hunterdon County. I had no increase in my insurance.

Actually all states now report offenses to the each other, as well most of the Canadian provinces will report to the states as well. The state will also asses points as if the violation occurred in the home state using their rules in most cases.
