Permit Process
Anyone have any idea how long it might take to obtain a building permit in Greene Township? We already have the septic design/permit in place. This process has begun for us this week and now I'm just wondering how long we'll have to wait to break ground.

When I got my building permit in Lake Township, it was as simple as walking into the Township Bldg., seeing the right person, and writing a check. Hope it's this easy for you!

Wow..that sounds encouraging. When all is said and done, we're hoping to be in the house by Christmas. But, maybe if the permits can go through quickly, we'll have turkey dinner for Thanksgiving there. From what I hear, each township is different depending on how much staff they have and the amount of building happening in the particular township. From what I can see, there's not too much happening in Greene Township, Pike County.

Wait until the spring. I would think things will start picking up in the building department. Each county is very different as well as the townships.
I don't remember, are you going to live in the house full time or for a second home for now?

Second home for now...but, we're getting fed up with life on Long Island. So...we might be full-time residents sooner rather than later. Ideally, we would like to give our son & daughter a little more time to get out on their own. My son graduates college in May, but needs to continue school to obtain the degree of his choice (secondary math teacher). My daughter spends money faster than she makes it, so I'm trying to get her to save. Of course, they can both move with us, but they're not too thrilled with leaving their friends and way of life here. I just don't see how they can make a future for themselves here with the costs so high.
