Default Gorgeous stone farmhouse in Marley and Me movie

My husband just got a job in Philadelphia and we are re-locating from Washington DC. We have been tired of the city for a while and fell in love with the scenery and old American feel of where they shot the PA scenes of Marley and Me.

I heard that Birmingham Township was where they shot this part of the movie. Does anyone know exactly where they found this beautiful house? It's exaclty what we're looking for and I am hoping there are similar homes near it that might be on the market.

Chester county is full of gorgeous million dollar farm houses. You might be interested in knowing that the real Grogans live in Lehigh county, where there are also beautiful farmhouses. Their real home up here where Marley lived, was in a development...

There are many areas in and around Philadelphia with stone homes. If all you want is a stone home you can pretty much find one in any area. Most of today's buyers are not interested in older homes because of the floor plans. Stone was a very common building material because of it's abundance in the region.

I have not read the book or watched the movie but it is my understanding that the family lived for a period of time on the Main Line. I think the author was a professor or journalist in the area.

If schools or public transportation(for your husband's commute) factor into the equation you will be limited in your search to certain areas.

Montgomery and Bucks counties are great areas to look for stone farm houses as well as Chester. The Lehigh valley is a bit of a commute to center city PHiladelphia but as toobusy posted it is another beautiful part of our state.

Best of luck with your move.

Will

Umm no, John wrote for the Inquirer from his house in the Lehigh Valley. But you are right about it not being a good commute!
