Default Lititz/Manheim Township Neighborhoods

We're a professional couple relocating from a very small town in southeastern VA to Lancaster County for my husband's work. With three small children (8,6,4) great elementary schools are a must. It looks like Manheim Township is consistently rated the best.

What are some names of the best neighborhoods in the Litiz area/Manehim Township school district area? We currently live in a very old, multi-generational neighborhood that we love, but are open to newer developments as well. Does everyone look at the newer developments and want to gag (like we do around here)?

I've searched forums for replies, but all seem a bit old. Any current thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a way to compare the schools - Search for Pennsylvania public schools. or this one
http://www.schoolmatters.com/schools.aspx/q/page=hm

If you just want to go by the numbers, you can pick a few schools that top the list, and then call those schools to find out what area the families live that go to those schools. When we moved to our current location, we knew that all three of the elementary schools were good in our school district so just looked to find a house that met our criteria.

That depends. We have some very wealthy areas. It's best to call the school and they will help you. But Manheim Township is known for being a rich school and area. ( I went to Hempfield, they are rivals--nothing serious haha) Or even do a google. Or look on LancasterOnline.com and look at properties for sale.
Good Luck. I'm sure you will like it here!

Thanks! I've called Hempfield and they were really very nice. I'm calling Manheim Township today. I've located a good realtor, so hopefully I can get some direction there. It's hard to do this all remotely! I'm ready to get "on the ground" and do my research.

Everything I've said about the people of Lititz, regardless of the age of the thread, I still stand behind. I don't know much about Manheim Township but you may encounter the same suburban snobby attitude that exists here in Lititz. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck.
