Default Home Insurance for house with knob and tube wiring?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy an older house in SE Pennsylvania -- it has been well-renovated but has small amounts of active knob-and-tube wiring (in good condition) alongside the new electric. So far only Geico has agreed to insure the home with active knob-and-tube wiring. I've called USAA, State Farm, Liberty who said they require the wiring be replaced; an insurance broker also predicted few companies would cover it.

*Any other suggestions for insurance companies that cover this older wiring?

*If you replaced your wiring with newer electric, how much did it cost?

Thanks!

I insured with Erie a home that was originally built supposedly in 1840, then renovated in the late 1970's with copper wire from a Federal-Pacific box but still had knob and tube in the attic and part of the kitchen. When I sold it the FHA inspector made me put in GFCI wiring near the sink - that part already had a wiremold outlet area so I had a qualified but moonlighting electrician cut in a GFCI box for the whole wiremold circuit for about $100. That was six years ago in the Hershey area.
