Default Lancaster Area - where to stay?

Hello:

I have visited the Lancaster area in the past and I've stayed at several nice hotels including the Eden Resort, Courtyard and Steamboat Inn. While all are nice, they are not the "peaceful/quiet" experience I had been hoping for in the area.

Can anyone recommend a hotel - or even a town - where I should look? I will be traveling with children and I want a neat and clean place, but nothing super fancy. Thanks!

Default Churchtown

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but we rented a cottage called the Churchtown Inn. Very rural, quiet, & absolutely beautiful scenery. It was very clean, the owners got us a barbecue, & an extra bed(there was 6 of us altogether), oh, plus 2 dogs.

Try a B&B anywhere in the county. There is a nice one on Route 772 in Intercourse but I can't think of it's name, maybe Carriage Inn or something like that. Whatever you do, stay away from Route 30 if you want peace and quiet. Enjoy your visit.

FYI, B&B's are for couples I would imagine. I would suggest an Amish farm to stay with kids. We are going tomorrow to Candlelight Inn. I stayed at Churchtown and Steamboat. When going to Lancaster, I'll never stay at a motel again as the B&B'S are very clean, resonable and homey. Take your wife to Flowers and Thyme, that's remote but close to the outlets.

That might be The Carriage Inn run by Laurel Inn the Hollow. I know the owners and they have a wonderful cottage/loft (The Cottage) just off Rt 272 (Snyder Hollow Rd) and the old Carriage House (Carriage Inn) in New Providence (corner of Route 222 and Old Rd).

Our kids got a lovely room at the Churtown Inn. It is in a quiet area.......you can look out over the Amish. Yet also, you can follow the roads to other attractions in the area. Very charming place....

Try the Chester County area, beautiful old colonial farms and not far from the Amish farms/area.
