Favorite towns in Central Pa
Looking for pretty scenery, good economy, welcoming to outsiders, and good schools with activities for families. Read the polls about favorite regions and a lot of people pick North Central Pa, just not sure what areas this would include.

I think for good economy (or at least job opportunities) you'd have to go near a larger city, such as Harrisburg, Lancaster, Carlisle, etc.
The central PA counties of Snyder, Centre, Union, Lycoming, Montour and Columbia have everything else that you mentioned, but jobs are scarce.

Mechanicsburg. You are getting all the other stuff plus a good job market.

Agreed. My wife works with several people who have or currently live in Mechanicsburg and they really like the town. Safe, quiet, good schools and close to Harrisburg.

Search the threads on here and you'll find a few. Jobs are few and far between so like many areas they welcome outsiders who bring money with them, more than otherwise - see http://www.wellsboropa.com/docs/retire.pdf . The schools are considered better than many other Northern Tier locations, maybe because they're more in debt for new buildings than elsewhere.

Try Elysburg.....great schools, extraordinary athletics, very welcoming town. Per the economy, jobs are not overly abundant, but if you look.....Bloomsburg University nearby, Geisinger & Merck (Danville) nearby.
