PSU State College child visit, where to stay
My daughter is visiting PSU State College next month for a few days. I'm going to drive her there and stay since she's only going to be on campus for three days. Any suggestions of where I should stay or what to do while she visits? I was looking at Lewisburg. Would you recommend that for a museum, culture-loving mom on her own for this trip?
Thanks for your help.

I would suggest staying on campus so you can also check out the night time activities. Did you see the local accommodations suggested on the PSU web page? Penn State Campuses - Penn State Undergraduate Admissions

I've stayed at the Atherton Hotel and downtown Days Inn on business, found nothing objectionable either place, and can walk around downtown to get a feel for the town.

I would stay in State College, The Nittany Lion Inn or Penn Stater are good to stay on campus, but off campus there is a wide variety of motels and hotels. Since she will be there for 3 days you will have plenty of time to visit the campus, plus explore the area. There is shopping downtown and at the mall, but it is also fun to visit other towns too. I would go to Bellefonte one day, there are nice shops and a great downtown. Boalsburg and Lemont are great as well. Going on a tour of the amish countryside is fun too, Penns Cave might intrest you as well. Have a good trip!

I might be chiming in a little late but I'd stay at the Nittany Lion Inn or at the Atherton. It will give you opportunity to really see State College. We had over 50 rooms rented at the Atherton when we got married and our family/friends raved about being able to walk all over campus or to eat in the downtown area.

I grew up in SC and went to college in Lewisburg and I would say stay in SC. I, however, think that the Nittany Lion Inn is overpriced and not worth it. There are lots of great hotels that are much cheaper (like Holiday Inn on route 26, you can walk downtown from there)
There is not much to do in Lewisburg so In my opinion it's not worth the trip.
In Sc, check out the art museum, see a show at the State Theatre, walk around Downtown Sc on College Ave. If you like live music check out the Jazz Cafe or Zeno's. There are also lots of little art shops downtown, the best is the Douglas Albert Gallery between college ave and beaver.
hope that helps!
