Stroudsburg to NY is possible.
Also think about Allentown, Reading, and other Lehigh valley towns.
Agreed. East Stroudsburg might be a good fit for you, but bear in mind that this area is among the most rapidly-growing in the entire state, so congestion is becoming an issue. Bethlehem has a wonderful college town vibe, especially on the South Side with Lehigh University. Kutztown might work as well, but it's a bit of a further commute to NYC.

Might be a bit of a commute from the northwestern corner of the state to NYC. Like I said in post 6 - Lehigh Valley.

Count this as another vote for the Lehigh Valley. The western end of the valley (Allentown/Bethlehem) is more tied into Philly, because of the PA Turnpike NE Extension. The eastern end more tied into NY, because of 78.

Neither area, though, is truly an easy commute. The commute from Easton (where Lafayette College is) to the North Jersey burbs is not too, too bad. It's about an hour to the Pulaski Skyway, after that, all bets are off. Driving 78 sucks, but there is good daily commuter bus service into the city.

Trans-Bridge Lines

Kutztown, PA is my personal favorite college town, but commuting anywhere other than Reading or the Lehigh Valley is way more trouble than it's worth.

bloomsburg is nice all year round.

scranton seems dead when the college students aren't around.

Lehigh Valley, allentown, Bethlehem, REading has alot of great schools and great jobs, but if you want a college feel you won't have that unless you live within a mile of a campus.

State College has a great college feel all year round, but there's not much in the way of jobs there other than ones that focus on teh students.

Default A few thoughts

I hear tons of good things about Doylestown.....it is just a beautiful area to live in. From there you'd be closer to the cities you need to get to. I hear raves about it when the family drives that way.
Bloomsburg, I love..........my daughter went to Bloomsburg Univ. .......
Problem is it would be too much of a drive for you, I'm almost sure.
But, the town is adorable.....
East Stroudsburg, use to be the happening place. Now it is a bit different.....
a bit too much city........its loosing its charm, and quaintness.
So I am voting for Forks/Easton by College Hill.........but, a bit more north...inland.
There is a ton of Colleges in the nearby vicinity......( Lafayette College, Cedar Crest, Lehigh University, Northampton College, Muhlenberg, others also)So there is a grand choice there.
Kutztown if you like lots of farm land, but........again a big commute. Too, too far for you.......
My favorites for you........and I thought about this for a day........
Doylestown area..........or Forks/Easton...................Forks/ Bethlehem/Easton winning out...

There is a bus Trans-bridge ( I think the name is) from Easton that has trips to NYC or Philly........
Not all that bad of a ride.........

Definately look into West Chester. Cute downtown area, big university, King of Prussia is an amazing mall; all sorts of other shopping areas as well. Can commute to Philly.

I third the notion of West Chester. Great town...college or otherwise. It has a kind-of Georgetown feel to it. Beautiful place that I can't say enough good things about.

Looks like the OP has left the board. Anyone else notice that their last post to this board was the one that started this thread in April? And that she never responded to any suggestions? Perhaps she moved to one our great suggested towns.
