Default North of Pittsburgh, where would you go????

Hi,
If you were looking to move North of Pittsburgh and still not have a LONG drive to get there, where would you live? I have been looking at Northern Allegheny County, South Butler Co, South Armstrong and South Beaver Counties.

Do any of you folks have first hand experience with these areas? I am looking for an existing home with land or just raw land to build on later. I would love more land(5-20ac's) but would be happy with 1ac if it gives me more privacy than less.

Thanks much.

That's where many people live who don't want to live in the city, but I'm perfectly happy living right in the city.

I'd suggest Butler co. I don't know much about Armstrong co, but I hear rt. 28 is hell. I've traveled from Cranberry to downtown several times and it was a breeze. You should be able to find an acre there, but it won't be cheap. If you go east to Adams twp around Mars you can find more land with large acres available. I really don't know why you would want to live in northern allegheny county. Personally, you can find the same quality houses in Cranberry and Adams that you can find in Marshall, Hampton, Pine, and Richland twps, plus the taxes are a lot cheaper.

Also, does it have to be north of the city? If you are looking for a lot of beautiful land that is secluded, check out Fayette co around Farmington, Nemacolin, and Ohiopyle. You can get a ton of acres there for cheap and it's really amazing and def. secluded. It's close to Morgantown, Uniontown, and about an hour and a half to downtown pittsburgh.
