My parents are from Florida and have owned a older home with 30 acres in western Pa for 25 years. During the 25 years they lived in this home 6-8 months out of the year and spent 4-6 months at their home in Florida. My Father passed away the end of 2008 and my Mom's income has been reduced to only my Father's Social Security and can no longer maintain the property or live by herself in Pa. She has listed the property and home for sale and I would like to know if this property is considered investment property and if she will have to pay Capitol Gains tax on the profit from the sale? Can you tell me what the tax % in the state of Pa is on the sale of home & property? I look forward to hearing from you!
Many thanks!
Linda
