Default R/O system is a must!

We never had one until we moved to Florida. My husband put one in under the sink and it made the water absolutely wonderful. We are going to put one in at our new home ASAP!

(R/O reverse osmosis)

Well, in Bellefonte, Pa, the tap water is very good. Bellefonte has a spring, so that's where it comes from. Bellefonte even means "big spring", or something like that. The water is so good, they even bottle it! Next time you have a bottle of water, look on the label, it might have come from little Bellefonte, Pa, a town of 6,000!

I did a reserach on air quality, water quality, etc. and found Pa's water( and air) was lower than average. Reading for example was rated a 40 out of 100, not great. Philly's water was a 1! People joke about it but it must really be bad. Pa water has a very high mineral and lime content, its hard water. Or it comes from river water in the case of many cities. Chlorine and flouride make it drinkable, but I wonder about the autism links. But Pa also has many spring water bottling plants, I know of a few in Lancaster and Berks.

I live in Lewistown and the tap water is excellent. In fact, Coca Cola owns all the land around the Lewistown Municpal water authority reservoir in the Seven Mountains.

Icy Tea, where did you find the stats on drinking water quality? We have a well and while I think the water tastes great, our next door neighbors use bottled water and other neighbors have a reverse osmosis system. I don't know if it's a taste preference or safety issue.

I grew up near Hamlin, (Wayne Co.) but now live in Greentown, Pike County. Have always had well water and loved. There's nothing worse than city water that tastes like it's fresh out of a swimming pool. We have never had the sulfur-smell or staining problems. It sounds like she should have her well checked in case it is contaminated with something.

this might be way late in the conversation, but we have had well water (other than it being hard it was safe to drink and very fresh) in the Newtown area, and now that we live in Lancaster we buy bottled water and don't drink the tap water.

I prefer well water vs public.

Default water alternatives/new holland

new holland/terre hill area, water is very bad. I am looking at my water glass now and there i a layer of white stuff on the bottom. Just moved here from WV, so i'm used to crystal clear well water. I'm sure a good filter will work.
I have also seen many 'fill your container' stations for 25cents. something new for me!

Folks I did not read one reply about using...SALT..sodium chloride for use in water-filters.If you must use a salt free diet, please read information,as to the type of minerals used in the filter, especially the reverse osmosis.
