Default Wyomissing area houses

I'm looking to get hired at Sovereign bank. My wife and I would be moving from Toledo OH and we're interested in buying a house upto 150K in a safe area with good schools in the Wyomissing area. Is this doable?

How big a city is Reading? Are there any other big white-collared employers in this area? I'm a software developer. Is Philadelphia at a commutable distance if at some point in the future I were to switch jobs and seek something in Philly?

Reading is a small city. It is about an hour's drive from Philly. Philadelphians usually go to Reading to shop in the outlet stores there. Other than that, I don't know too much about it (and I know even less about Wyomissing), but I think it is pretty conservative. You might want to look in Upper Merion Township which would be between Reading and Philly and easily accessible to either via the Turnpike or Schuylkill Expressway. Schools are good, and the wonderful King of Prussia Mall is located there.

I really meant to say it was a small town in a rural area.
