Default Milton,Catawissa, New Columbia area?

Hi. I'm looking to move within the year to PA from NY. Can anyone tell me about these areas? How are the schools, areas for shopping, etc. Are the people friendly? Crime? Any help would be appreciated. It is so hard to decide where to go. We are also looking at Mifflinburg,Lewisburg and DAnville. Thanks for any info

Catawissa is a VERY small town. We're talking the only grocery store is only slightly larger than a 7-11, there's one small pizza place and a pharmacy. That is it (and no, I'm not kidding). There is one elementary school and a combined jr/sr high. Nice farming town, people are friendly, but it barely qualifies as a town. Danville and Bloomsburg are larger towns (Bloom has a state university and thus more activites to do), although still not very large. I would definitely go and visit the areas you are considering moving to. Most of the towns you mentioned are rather small with not a lot of activities/shopping/restaurants to offer. The schools in Bloomsburg (Bloomsburg Area School District and Central Columbia School District) are probably the best in the area, IMO. Please let me know if you have any specific questions.

Not a lot of crime in any of the areas you mentioned. Yes, people are friendly in this area. I often will talk to people I've never met in the grocery stores, etc. Shopping in the towns is a little limited, Lewisburg probably has the best shopping but there are larger malls within an hour of each of these towns. Catawissa is small but it's very close to Bloomsburg and Danville. I would recommend visiting the different areas, don't forget to check out Knoebel's outside of Catawissa.

Default Milton and New Columbia

Milton is an industrial town and the once-beautiful down-town has now been turned into a circuitous industrial park. Once a peaceful, riverside vista, it has now been uglified by modernization. Work is scarce.

New Columbia is a tiny, country village with no income opportunities.

Warior run- watsontown is the best school district, followed by lewisburg. mifflingburg is too remote. milton is decent- youll get more for the $ there.

catawissa is more of a cabin town. i would avoid it.

Selinsgrove has good schools. Sunbury you get bang for the $.

if you want cheap housing Shamokin is the place. You can get a home 10-30k there. it has a hospital and a walmart. it very much depends on the block as to if it is decent. the town is coal cracker region. white trash. a person of color would dislike Shamokin, as there would be tension.
