Default Moving to Bucks County

Hi all,
My family are moving to Bucks County from the UK but we're not sure of the best place to settle. We've been to Doylestown, New Hope and Newtown which all seem very nice. Someone has also mentioned Lambetville but I understand that comes under New Jersey, which has a different schooling system. However, our main criteria are schools as I have three kids at all levels of schooling. Does anybody have any comments on what areas are great for living and schools? My husband will be working in the Ivyland area and a maximum of half hour drive would be acceptable. Many thanks

How funny, I'm from Bucks County and moved to the UK!

Doylestown, New Hope and Newtown are great areas but they are very expensive. Most towns in the area are going to be nice towns to live in. Have you looked into Richboro? It's inbetween Ivyland and Newtown. So it's in the Council Rock school district which is a highly desirable school district but keep in mind it is a huge school district as well and it's easy for students to get "lost in the crowd". Ivyland itself is not a bad place to live and is in the Council Rock school district. I've heard New Hope and Doylestown are in good school districts as well but I'm not familiar with them.

You may want to check out the Yardley area since I know that's in another good school district but it might be too far for you, it will be a 30 min drive in light traffic - which reminds me, New Hope is a bit far from Ivyland too. During rush hour, you'd struggle to keep it within a 30 min drive.

Hi,

My family and I moved from North East Wales 5 years ago to Doylestown and remember well what you are currently going through. I'm originally from Scotland and my husband is from Norwich, the girls were born in Maidstone and now, here we are. My eldest daughter has just finished High School and the younger one, Middle School so we have been through the three school stages. We originally planned to come for two years but really liked it here and became permanent residents 3 years ago. We rented in Doylestown until our Green Cards came through and bought 3 years ago as the rent was as much as the mortgage. I just want to be up front and let you know that I am a Realtor now, partly due to the incompetence of some of the agents we worked with and I kind of felt I could do better than that. Doylestown suited us best as it most resembled a British town and we could walk most places.
