Peggy's(the candy shop) has the hard serve hand dipped hershey ice cream. It's on main street.

The Frog Hut has soft and hard serve with plenty of other options. It's across from the Pizza Hut.

There is also a small ice cream shack at Middlebury Center, 5 miles north of Wellsboro on Hwy 287. It's pretty good.

Sorry to hear he was laid off, but glad you can still enjoy your special day. You will love the walkability of the entire town.

George's on 6/287 out the north end of town is the classic "Greek diner" folks often seek out in other areas for good unpretentious food. Not the Wellsboro Diner, stay away from that tourist trap.

Native Bagel is good but their bagels are smaller than a real NY style bagel shop. When I go there wanting breakfast and expecting not to get lunch I order two bagels.

In downtown Tioga Boro, Cuneo's Twin Lakes Restaurant on Rt 287/Wellsboro St. has more authentic home cooking than it might seem from the unpretentious outside.

And I'll add another vote for the ice cream shack on Rt 287 in Middlebury Center. They have Perry's hard ice cream which is a notch above Hershey's in my book. A bit cheaper and not as crowded as the Frog Hut which is also OK.

The Penn Wells hotel and lodge are both fairly clean places to stay, we're in an organization that reserves the whole place every 2 years without real complaint. If you stay at the old hotel downtown it's cheaper and you can still swim at the lodge's pool a couple of blocks away. The Penn Wells Hotel - Penn Wells Hotel and Lodge You can eat there too, sometimes it's better than other times and especially for the Saturday night smorgasbord it's gotten a bit pricey.

Hope your trip goes great! My husband and I took a trip out on our motorcycles for a weekend earlier this year. We love Wellsboro. I'd highly recommend the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum out Rt. 6 past Galeton. It's about 30 miles from Wellsboro, a beautiful ride, and a museum well worth seeing.
