Question Advice on where to live in Lewistown/Reedsville area?

I just got a job at the Indian Valley Middle School and am wondering where locals would recommend living.

I am from about 30 miles north of Williamsport, so I am used to a rural setting. I would like to live in a small town that is safe and fairly convenient (a general store, convenience store, or grocery) but I don't mind needing to drive a few miles to get to the fast food/shopping/overrun areas.

I would like to be in a friendly and safe area, as I will be living by myself. I'm looking for an apartment/small house to rent and would like to be within ten miles of the school.

Do you have any suggestions? I can see on google maps that there are a few towns around the school (which is next to Reedsville), but I know that locals have a feel for where it is preferable to live.

Thanks for your help!

My sense from the folks I know up there is that staying in the Kishacoquillas (pronounced "Big") Valley would be better than the immediate Lewistown Borough area which has had some drug issues, or even Burnham. Since not many seem to have responded, look for a referral through the school for specifics. Maybe Milroy or Belleville could be options, both have some stores and local services, I wouldn't think you'd need to be further out than there. The Plain Sect Amish/Mennonite heritage is pretty strong in those parts and the Internet might be slow to penetrate there to the point of finding all the listings on craigslist.

I would recommend the Milroy area if you want rural living. It's a beautiful valley with sprawling farms but still some newer developments and a few chain restaurants, stores etc.
