PINE RIDGE!!?? What a joke this community is..I moved here and refuse to let my children out of my sight. I am scared of the people who do not follow the road rules and run stop signs and speed all the time. The older children who have no supervision. Security?? Pine ridge would not be in so much debt if security sat and gave out tickets to those who do not obey the laws in our community. I regret even moving here. You may think you are moving into the "country" where most of us want our children to have fresh air and trees to stand under , but you will be so sorry to think you got what you were looking for, if you moved here. I cannot wait for the economy to go back up so I can sell my home and get the heck out of here. WOW!! Surprise, surprise, as I am sitting here typing, a car goes speeding down my "quiet road" Imagine that....what a joke!!

Your better off in the city, there are no jobs up here in the bushkill area, you would be struggling just to make ends meet. Do not move in pine ridge they kill you with all the dues an anything else they would like to charge, your better off near family and where jobs are dont make a mistake, but its your call, I've lived here 13 yrs. and it only gets worst!

Cant stop everything theres only so much security can do and they do do their job, but you have to also relize how big pine ridge really is, if you really honestly dont like it here then move the hell out cause no matter where you go its all the same!

I'm just tired of people in our area sweeping the "hidden homophobia" issue under the rug like it doesn't ever occur and isn't worthy of or "fashionable" to be talking about. I see injustices committed around here everyday, which is why our gay/******* population (which is fairly sizable may I add) is all "closeted." Believe it or not, I'm actually a very masculine person---I love going to hockey games, I work at a "man's store", I'm an avid runner and hiker, love playing baseball, and I work out quite a bit. I'm not at all the type that most people picture---limp wrists, purple floofy shirts, a lisp, a tiara, frequent clubber, etc.

NEPA's WORST problem is that the residents fear what they don't understand, and unlike in most other parts of the country with the proper "If it's not bothering me and/or my family in any way then why should I care or cause problems?", our area has the mindset of "This is an abomination to God---THOU MUST SANCTIFY!!!" Granted the younger generation, my peers, are beginning to buck the trend for the better in the way of extending olive branches and learning to be tolerant of others with different religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations, but there are still quite a number of ignorant, uneducated middle-aged and elderly people in our region who think we're all AIDS-carrying pedophiles, and comments from people with those mindsets can be very belittling and enraging at the same time.

I just wish people around here would stop viewing "my kind" as being a threat to their neighborhoods. It might surprise people to learn that I'm actually a political MODERATE, as I don't even support gay marriage (just unions)! If some of these people would shut their mouths for one second and open their eyes, they might actually see that we bleed the same color blood, eat at the same restaurants, and commute to work on the same highways harmoniously everyday. I guess when your metro doesn't have much in the way of crime or any other important issues to be concerned about, the residents turn towards picking on each other.
I am not gay/lesbian, in fact I am a 52 year old grandma who LOVES purple fluffy shirts, tiaras and all of my dear dear gay/lesbian friends. I also love my bi racial friends, my friends from other countries, my Amish friends .. . you get my point. Hang in there ScranBarre - there are still people around who don't give a hoot what your color or sexual orientation is - we just like people we like. Gay, white or whatever. People are people - good and bad - color or no color - gay or straight.

I lived in pine ridge for 3 yrs and moved to florida a year after 9/11. I live in an area here similar to pine ridge, but not a community where you pay dues etc. and there is crime here gangs as well. Times are tough now. As far as multiracial families, or diverse groups. as long as you walk, act, conduct yourself like a responsible person then you will be fine. I am a white male mid 30's born and raised in north jersey and do not care what race you are, or sexual orientation for that matter, as long as you dont act like a fool, take pride in living off others, expect everything handed to you, etc. Just wherever you move to give it time for people to feel you out, be respectfull, walk with pride, work hard, be good parents, just dont act all gangsta and youll fit in and be fine. good luck to you all.

Pine Ridge is a dump, to give you my honest opinion. Sure, there are some decent people living in there, I'm sure, but the place has always been plagued with problem residents, gang activity, and they're usually good for a drug related murder once a year.

Actually, much of the Bushkill area is like that, sorry to say. My advice, stay out of those communities - Pine Ridge, Saw Creek, etc - as they all tend to have the same problems. Transplants from more urban areas moved in for the cheap(er) housing and unfortunately brought with them much of the very problems they were trying to leave behind.

I know this is a late response, but I had not seen this post before.

A drug related murder??? You've got to be kidding me! My husband and I lived in PR for 5 years, and I don't ever think there was a drug related murder. There was never a murder at all as far as I know, and we were fairly active in the community.

Bushkill is full of good people. It's like every other town in America and does have some problems, but let's not inflate the problems to scare people. Wow!

Pine ridge is horrible, do not buy there. Unless one parent will be at home day and night to watch your home like a guard dog don't do it. Your home alarm is pointless because it takes security 20 min to respond. Kids are not the ones breaking into homes its 18,19, etc
