I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about Whitehall. It appears to have very reasonable housing costs. (I'm looking for a townhouse or condo) What is the commute like from there to western NJ? Is it possible to commute to Hunterdon County NJ in 45 minutes?

Depending on where in Hunterdon County you need to get to , it can be done from the Allentown area to Clinton NJ in Hunterdon in 45 min to an hour. Problem is during rush hours with construction, accidents, sun glare and just heavy volume that trip could take an 75 to 90 minutes. Of course if you are staying closer to the Pa border it could be less. Not to sure about the Whitehall area but it has plenty of shopping.

Yes, shopping is the first thing that came to mind when I read Whitehall! I think it's an okay area. Lots of houses and churches. The Lehigh Valley mall that is getting lots of neat store and there are also three other big shopping centers along McArthur Blvd. Whitehall runs into Allentown so there are probably some iffy sections. I think you'll find quite a few people that have lived there their whole lives and not a lot of newcomers. I also agree with jjj about the commute. Might be good, might be bad. Route 78 is a busy, heavily used road. You might want to think about renting for a short period before buying.

Whitehall which encompasses Coplay, Stiles, Cementon is decent and safe area.

Good deals of homes exist. Just watch for the flippers buying granny's house for 105k adding 20k in upgrades and in two months listing the property for 185K.

I agree about the commute.
Whitehall also has a good school system and all the business's keep our property taxes relatively low.
