Joe Roots is great for ribs.
Mi Scuzi and Collao's is great for authentic Itallian dinning.

Steak and fried zucchini at Ricardo's on East Lake Road.
Pizza from Barbato's (the Wesleyville location is best) ... or from Dominick's on E. 12th Street if you want some legally questionable late-night atmosphere.
Lake Erie perch from the Freeport Inn in North East.
Wings from Eli's on W. 26th Street, or the Park Tavern on East Lake Road in Lawrence Park.
Pierogi from Dombrowski's on Main Street in Lawrence Park.
For some nice atmosphere and good food, try The Avonia Tavern.
Crap. Now I'm hungry.

I used to live right down the street from Eli's, so many great flavors of wings.

Usually long waits there, especially during the fall Steelhead run.

I miss Stan's Dinette and The Buoy (RIP), but that's fodder for another thread ...

Joe Roots is ok, not good enough to me to recommend
Sarah's on the peninsula... can't beat it in the summer, Italian Deluxe sammich is good
Colao's Ristorante... great authentic Italian
Serafini's or Hector's... good basic Italian
If you order a pizza, call Steel City... my #1 fav by a mile
Sloppy Duck on the bayfront is good
Oscar's... very good food, lotsa German stuff, great homemade chips
Pufferbelly... downtown, beautiful place
Plymouth Tavern... good bar food, Erie's classic bar
Olive Garden... just kidding, it's just as crappy in Erie as anywhere else

When our kids are home (mid 20s), they always ask to go to Smuggler's Wharf.

Funny comments there........Joe Roots in my opinion has the best ribs in the city. Sarah's, so over rated. Always run by high school and college kids without a clue.
