Default Considering Williamsport PA

Hi Folks...I have visited Tioga county..Wellsboro area..been thru Williamsport too but dont really know much about the area. Williamsport looks to have a fairly decent population. I was wondering about job opportunities there... what kind of property taxes do you pay? How are house prices? I live in Nj and have a home valued at $435K and our taxes are $10K/year The home is a 3 bdrm ranch approx 1800 sq. ft. on 2/3rds of an acre and inground pool. We were thinking of relocating to NC or TN but we are really Northeasterners at heart so PA looks attractive to us. I am a motorcyclist and love the roads all around the Williamsport area and beyond...We feel a move to PA would be better and less culture shock than moving down south...certainly closer too. So for those of you in the know...tell me what the pros and cons are of the Williamsport area. TIA

I'd do a search of this forum as there is a huge volume of information already written.

Have a read of all of that and then see what you think and if you have any other questions to ask.

I think sometimes the search function on this forum works less well than the "similar threads" area down below the reply box, for actually finding info.

Plus, periodically Williamsport and areas to the north and south get mentioned in the Northeastern Pennsylvania sub-forum.

Ok Thanks for pointing out those links...coupled with the fact that I know someone living in Montoursville...it doesnt sound like Williamsport is all that great...mind you that any area will have its pluses and minuses...The fact is there isnt enough employment of the right type for me or others in my family. While it is a beautful geographically...one cant survive on that alone.

There are tons of threads here in the past year about Williamsport. A lot of good info in there.

True there isn't much in the way of good jobs around the area. Mostly you have to have a small business or other way of supporting yourself. I work doing contracting work that takes me all over the USA. I couldn't live in this area if that wasn't the case.
